Schofield Community Association
The Schofield Community Association (SCA) encompasses the historic neighborhood bounded by York Street on the west, Beaufort Street on the east, Park Avenue on the South, and Hampton Avenue on the north.
Located in Aiken’s Parkway District and part of the city’s original 1835 Dexter-Pascalis grid, our neighborhood is characterized by picturesque parkways and an eclectic mix of architectural styles. Our rich history is visible in our churches, schools, and other historic structures.
Unfortunately, decades of disinvestment in our neighborhood are also visible. We see this in our the deteriorating structures, the house demolitions, the urban decay, and in the loss of neighborhood businesses. The task for the future is to change this trajectory and revitalize our neighborhood.
The mission of the Schofield Community Association is to preserve the artifacts and unique historical structures of the Schofield neighborhood by involving homeowners, residents, business owners, churches, schools, and any concerned residents in the revitalization and development of a thriving, safe, crime-free community. The SCA meets on the 2nd Thursday of every month and welcomes all neighborhood residents and other interested parties. Click here for info on upcoming meetings.
